Rolling up people data to Salesloft accounts
A roll-up puts a fact about an account's people onto the account itself: the latest reply, whether anyone is on a cadence, or how many people you've reached. Salesloft custom fields hold whatever value is written to them, so something has to work the roll-up out and keep it current.
- Pick the question first: latest date, any, how many or most common
- Keep it current as people change, leave cadences and activity ages out
- Copying the other way, account to people, is a roll-up's twin
The roll-ups teams ask for
- Latest date: Account Last Replied, the latest reply across its people.
- Anyone? Y while anyone at the account is on the cadences you pick, cleared when nobody is.
- How many: people connected with in the last 30 days.
- Most common: the persona or department that appears most.
How to do it
- By hand, with an export and a spreadsheet. Fine once; out of date by next week.
- In your CRM, if it supports roll-up fields and syncs them to Salesloft. Check what your sync writes, and how often.
- With a tool that writes the field, worked out from your Salesloft data and updated through the day.
What to watch
- People move accounts. A roll-up should follow them.
- "In the last 30 days" changes every day even with no new activity, as old activity ages out.
- Write only values that changed. Rewriting every account every hour wastes Salesloft's API allowance.
The other way: account to people
Copying an account field onto its people, such as tier, industry or owner, lets people views filter by it. One setting beats a rule per value.
Pulsar Automate builds these as Smart Fields: roll-ups (latest date, oldest date, most common, Y if anyone, how many), cadence flags, activity counts from 7 days to a year, and account fields copied to people. A preview shows what it would write before anything goes to Salesloft. See Pulsar Automate
